    reminds me of the old RADIO SHACK ads and catalog.
    it was a unique time. JC Penny had their brands
    SEARs, etc., another source was PX or BX catalogs
    'competing technology'...or merely
    competing for money....but dream fodder nonetheless

    We used to ride our bikes to the Lafayette store 3 miles away back when I was 10.

    AHHH... What memories.

    In the late 60's there was a Lafayette store a couple of towns away in Dayton OH. I saved my allowence ($5 a week) for months to buy my first reel-to-reel recorder from them.

    At the time Lafayette, Heathkit, and Radio Shack catalogs showed up in the mailbox on a regular basis.

    Yes... I've been an "electronics junky" for most of my life.
