Currently in our loft all the audio equipment is sitting on the floor. I have been working on an 8 ft media cabinet to house the equipment and clean things up in the front of the room. I plan to have the front of the cabinet black and the top stained. Still must get the boards and glue them up for the top. The top will be removable so that it will be lighter for carrying the unit upstairs when completed.

Good idea. That thing is huge, twice as big as mine and mine is heavy enough and I didn't need to take it up stairs.

My wife and I were able to carry it up stairs and get it in place. Pretty bulky but not too heavy with the doors and top removed. Next up a valance to hide the projector screen and presence speakers.

Looking good. Hiding all the equipment lights is a top priority for me.

Very nice. What's the top? Looks like 1 or 2x material.

How do you speakers sound in there? I like the idea.

Wow Rick, that room is awesome and the cabinet you made seems to hit the right spot. I am indeed jealous.

Very nice Rick. That is a comfortable looking space you've assembled.

It's too bad we can't all get together at each others places every so often to hang out for some tunes or a movie...

Thanks for the feedback. It was fun to build.

Chad the top is made from 2 by 4's and 2 by 2's. They are glued and bolted. The speakers sound fine. I plan to line the inside of the speaker areas with padding and build a proper support to lift the speakers a bit.

A few additions to the screen wall since my last update. Some shelves and a room paint job.
