    Straight from the sony site:

This utility updates the BDP-S1 firmware to version 1.50 and provides the following benefits:

    * Improves BD-Java compatibility to enhance interactivity with some BD-ROMs
    * Enhances playback compatibility with certain BD-ROM format discs
    * Corrects the output signal status information for audio output and display when Linear PCM 5.1 channel soundtracks are played back via HDMI

    Thanks, Shane!

My only gripe with Sony is that they distribute their firmware updates via ISO image--compressed into a self-extracting PC-compatible .exe file.

They should use zip files, which are compatible with Mac and Linux as well.

But quibbles aside, I am looking forward to applying the update, and thanks to your raves, watching the Pirates movies.

Thank the Lord! Maybe it will speed up the Pirates load and response times. Most of my discs load in 20-45 seconds, I could have taken a nap waiting for POTC. Can't wait to get my disc in the mail!
