Wow. Just wow. You'd think this guy would have a clue, but this is basically the worst secret in blogosphere:

Personally out of my little gaming group of 7 or 8 folks, 6 have returned their box. Currently that I'm aware only myself, Mike Parent, and one other have not gotten the dreaded red ring of death.

    Deny, deny, deny.

I don't know the actual failure rate, but I agree that anecdotally it seems to be higher then 3%.

    It's at least 20%. I don't have a friend that hasn't had a harware problem with their 360.

Well if I were to go in there I would be given crap, simply because I am a 16 year old snotty know-it-all.

Make sure you have HTML turned off on your profile.

Sweet. Does that mean we can't use the HTML feature? I was hoping to show off some of my newly acquired skillz and embed some video.

It really is ridiculous that they can't just fix the darn things. We're a year and a half into production and first gens are going up in smoke left and right.

agreed. sort of sucks when your selling them.

me: you might want our extended service plan with this one....
them: (the half normal automatic no)
me: ummm you really do want it with this, either mine, or go get microsofts....

Yeah, unfortunately BB trying to sell them on cables and stuff have given people a bad taste.

    Red-ringed here as well.

The replacement I got has the occasional read error as well.

Since the machine is out of warranty now I think I'll just start doing my own repairs from here on out, there's enough replacement parts available and enough people out there with experience working on the unit.
