If I think of my three best friends, they're all suffering from sort of mental illness.

Quite obvious, we didn't come from apes. If we did they'd still be evolving.

Who says they're not? No one who supports the theory of evolution claims it happened over the course of 50 years, or even 1,000.

Because we'd have seen stages of that evolution at some point. We have apes and we have humans, nothing at all inbetween, never has, never will be.

Yikes. No comment other than perhaps you should Google "Louis Leakey".

Are you joking? Have you never heard of Australiapithecus? Homo habilis? Homo erectus? Homo sapiens neanderthalensis? Etc., etc.

You may choose to reject evolution because of your religous beliefs, but the existence of "intermediate" fossils in the path to humans is irrefutable.

Larry...don't forget too that the world is indeed FLAT.

    :)

oh and yes you are correct with your data....but many in this world have indeed chosen to ignore some facts.

Let's see some proof, not theories or drawings then. I googled your list there Larry, I get lots of drawings, some skulls and not much else. Man evolving from apes is a theory, nothing more, as long as man has been on this planet we'd have a lot more proof then what we have and we'd being seeing stages of that evolution happening today, we don't.

In science, hypotheses are generated, then rejected when newly generated facts do not support them. Religion works the opposite way; facts are rejected if they are inconsistent with the belief.

Its a free country, and folks can believe whatever they choose.

    Ron:

How in the world could you know what does and does not exist, without having studied the evidence? Let's stop playing pretend - - you will reject any evidence - - be it fossils or that pertaining to the age of the earth - -that doesn't fit in with your religious beliefs.

I'm told that religion also taught that the earth was flat, and that the sun orbited the earth. At least we no longer hang people for using the scientific method.

    Ron:

As far as evolution continuing today, in most parts of the world it does. It is simply too slow for us to readily observe (in most cases). There are however classic examples in which we CAN observe it; I'd be happy to provide refernces if you are truly interested in learning about them. If your mind is already made up, there is no point in wasting your time, nor mine.

Isn't man still evolving in the sense that some body organs no longer serve a real purpose..like wisdom teeth etc...I seem to recall reading somewhere that there's an organ in our body (which one esapes me) doesn't really do much anymore and even if it was removed we would survive without complications...sorry for my lack of specifics, but I'm sure I read about it somewhere.

Oh and yes it's sad when some folks in the world put on horse blinders all in the name of religion.

It takes all kinds though to make this big round world go around though.

    :)

Evolution has slowed tremendously in countries such as the US, because only the most serious genetic defects prevent one from reproducing. In places such as Africa, evolution is chugging along, just as it has been for millenia.

P.S. We can live without our appendix and once adulthood is reached, without our spleen. The first is largely vestigial, the latter is not. Of course, our coccycx (tail bone) is essentially vestigial as well.
