Sat down and watched the Atlas V carry an NRO satellite into space. Atlas used to be our (Delta) competitor, but since the merger into the United Space Alliance, I'm required to cheer them on....

Extremely cool! I've always wanted to go to something like that!

Apparently there is some talk about a 'launch facility' being set up about 5 hours from here in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia due to it being on the same Longitude (or Latitude, whatever) as the Russian space base. It would be partially used to ferry items to the ISS, along with commercial space flight.

Clearly you were thinking mean thoughts, as this launch didn't put its cargo into correct orbits! :p

It's hard to embrace those who were once your enemy. ;)

And the latest I heard, it's not in exactly the right orbit, but it is in an "acceptable" orbit. Whatever that means. At least the tax payers aren't out a couple of hundred million...

Far as I've read it just means they'll have to use fuel to get them where they want them, which ultimately will shorten the service life. Long as they snitch on some bad bad men we're ok, right? ;)
