Default Question for Shane: Onkyo 3007/3008

Hey dude,

Looks like the funds are just about to shake loose and I thought I'd ask as you've been rocking the 3007 for a couple months now.

Knowing that I have no desire to take the leap into 3D, is there really ANY decent reason to wait for the 3008 and not jump on the really good prices on the 3007 now? Is the Audyssey 32 stuff really enough to delay the purchase over what I presume is already a great piece of gear? Is there something I'm overlooking? Anything?

Looking for validation, justification, hell...I'll take an excuse but knowing you've had your 3007 in the rack for a while I wanted to ask before I jump.

Paul,
Looking at the specs and features, the only 2 things I could see different between the 3007 and the 3008 are the 2 you pointed out (Xt32 and HDMI1.4 for 3D). The rest of the specs look identical to mine.

HDMI 1.4 seems like a non issue for you (and me TBH).

The only difference I could see questioning is the Audyssey XT32. Whether or not this extension to the XT EQ is $$$$ better, is a HUGE question. Night and Day better.. who knows??

You could also consider the bigger brother 5007 at ~$1400. I would go with either of those and not look back.

Guess this is gonna be the week...hopefully ordered before Friday if I can find a good deal.

I'm probably gonna spring for the Oppo too as I'd like to have something other than the PS3 to play BDs as well as keeping both SACD and DVD-A capabilities.
